Scope image bender!

Need help. I am an old target shooter who is having real problems getting behind my Unertl 20 X scope in the prone position. My old neck just won't give as it used to. I am looking for any gadget, be it some sort of prism of I-Pad clamp that would allow the use of the I-pad camera to bend my view so...

Anschutz Mod 1903 problem

Any help or suggestion regarding problems with a relatively new left hand Anschutz Mod. 1903. It has a intermittent problem when opening the bolt after a shot is fired and the bolt does not reset the firing pin. Then the gun is in effect lock up and the bolt has to be removed and the bolt manually r...

NRA Smallbore Rifle Sitting Position Rules

Is any one familiar with the Smallbore Rifle sitting position rules regarding whether both elbows must be supported on your leg (knees) or is that optional? I know that it is steadier with both arms supported but some have a body makeup that makes getting the off arm supported very difficult. IMHO i...

I have a couple of boxes left of 20 year old Eley Tenex black box and quit using it after two rims ruptured while shooting prone and sent gas back into my face. Not sure why except that I speculated that the priming material in that batch must have weakened the brass rims. I have not used it since t...

This would be a NRA Junior 4 Position Sectional. The match bulletin called for 10 shots in each of the 4 positions with A-17 targets at 50'. It seems as if there are some doifferences of opinion as to what NRA rule book is to be used as the match only said," NRA rules will govern, rifle rule 3....

It is Smallbore .22RF. but I guess I got the answer from a coach from the Colorado training center. He says that the only difference in the rules is that kids have to use iron sights and some adult matches allow or call for scopes. I was concerned as the NRA SB Rule book 3.2 seemed to indicate that ...

NRA Rifle Rule Book

NRA Junior Rifle Rule 3.2-- Can some one give me a good definition of what they call a Schutzen Butt Hook and Palm Rest? How about what some call a riser?
Can a junior use a hooked butt plate in Off Hand? Can a junior use a palm rest that is fastened to the foreend rail for Off Hand?

atomicarh's post brought to mind that one should avoid always using the same lane. It is easy to get into such a rut and have the feeling that one lane is better than another. Baring some physical problem such as lighting or air flow try to use a different lane each time. This allows you to shoot we...

Will be 74 in three months. Started SB rifle at 18. Shot here in Maine, Connecticut in the 60's 4 position SB, then later took up skeet when I was moved by job to an area with no SB rifle. Back to Maine in 1983 and took up SB rifle again along with NRA Silhouette. Still shooting SB rifle but find it...

It is extremely important to learn to deal with distraction. If they are of a safety nature I would immediately tell a range officer. I read some time ago, and not sure if completely true or not, that Lones Wigger used to train standing with another soldier standing nose to nose with him yelling lou...

Anschutz 1813 Trigger extension

A fellow shooter would like to move the trigger further forward than the adjustment now allows. ( He is a big, long fingered person) Is anyone familiar with an after market fix to move the trigger forward on a Anschutz Mod. 1813? He has the factory trigger as far forward as it will go now and still ...

Ideas needed to teach Standing(Off Hand)

One of the more difficult things in teaching junior rifle is to get these kids to do well in standing. Given that each kid has a gun that matches his/her physical size and stamina what do you find works to keep them from getting discouraged? Most can see improvement in Kneeling and Prone in a reason...

I find that the side eyeglass blinders help to tune out the movements at the firing line. However, if one can train themselves to shut all the distractions out with the mind alone it is better. You know, mind over matter.

Prone Position Elbow Pain

I am 73 years old and for the past few years shooting the prone position has become very painful, even to the point that I sometimes have to stop. I shoot with a sweatshirt, elbow foam pad, heavy leather shooting jacket and use a Freeland prone pad. The sensation is one of an ice pick being driven i...

We are using the CBI's. My mistake in calling them OBI's, shows my age. In my day they were called OBI's and it is habit. These are inserted into the chamber and the gun is not functional with them inplace. There use with juniors will create a habit that will hopefully follow them all their lives.

One of the things we are using to help with the safety angle is OBI's. The only time we allow a gun not to have the OBI in place is on the line and in position. That really helps the RSO keep track of things as gun move from and to the line. After a few sharp reminders the kids really adhere to the ...
