Re: New Rifle Cleaning

As with everything I shoot with, I take a "simple is best" approach to cleaning. 1. Hoppes standard solvent, not the copper remover stuff 2. Nylon brush 3. Dewey coated rod (But I also like the Pro-Shot stainless rods a lot, just haven't picked one up yet) 4. ALWAYS use a bore guide. I pre...

Re: SK Flat Nose Match ammo

Yes, new WOLF ammo is made by Eley and even comes in their boxes. I was pretty surprised since it used to be made by Lapua and around SK yellow box in quality.

Re: Recoilless target firearm

What are you missing? In a spring-piston airgun, recoil isn't the problem. What a shooter feels is not a backward impulse caused by the equal and opposite reaction to the pellet's forward motion. What's felt is a forward impulse caused by the mass of forward-moving the spring-piston imparting its m...

Re: Can you shoot out an airgun barrel ?

I think you're going to get a different answer for every person that responds. Hopefully someone will chime in with factual data, because I would be incredibly curious to look into the real world tests of such a thing. I once had a guy tell me that if I didn't change my CBI every few months it would...

"Bickers" Scoring Gauge?

Tonight at my rifle club, the junior coach and club president brought up the subject of Bickers scoring gauges, and a Bickers match that used to be held at the club. Apparently this gauge is .005" smaller than the 9 ring on an a17 target, and it checks to see if your shot is within .0025" ...

Re: Any good platforms to build an FT rifle on?

You can already buy a 10m rifle converted to a field target rifle. Feinwerkbau makes a variant of the 800 just for it.

Mac1 usft rifles are also very popular for FT.

Re: CMP Smallbore at Camp Perry 2018?

George Norton made a good point at Bristol this year, that with every new "national" match, the amount of shooters who can participate in each match spreads thinner and thinner. Now that CMP and ASSA matches are a thing, people will shoot those instead of the NRA match.

Re: Pellets sticking in trap

Pellets stack in my air rifle targets all he time. Once the pile reaches 1/2" tall or about it either falls off or I just peel if off and throw it in the pile with the other stacks.

Re: CMP Smallbore at Camp Perry 2018?

The NRA rep at Bristol addressed said issue of the lie. They did not give reason other than that the staff who made an empty promise had been replaced. The issue about no vendors is truthful, and it's because of people claiming how bad Bristol is. They are scaring away people who have never shot mat...

Re: CMP Smallbore at Camp Perry 2018?

When you shoot at the Smallbore Nationals held by the NRA, you are part of a tradition that has been going on since the birth of the world's best smallbore shooters. You can even win trophies that Lones Wigger has won when he was in his prime. Sadly, you can't get that with CMP or ASSA matches. It ...

Re: NRA Smallbore Nationals report?

Hap, thanks for your extensive coverage and report of the match. It was a good one, and I'm still surprised I took home the overall 3p top junior and civilian spots. The first day of metric offhand went surpringly well, but the second day any sight match was tough. For the first stage of offhand I s...

Re: long and short sight base

I have a Steyr LP10 long, and would never consider a short or compact model. I like being able to move my sights out and see all my shake. It lets me know if something is wrong in my hold. I also do agree with how Pilk sells their pistols, and that they remove one tank before sending the gun to you ...

Re: Inside a Steyr LP1-P Aluminum CO2 Cylinder @ 25 years..(

Aluminum is a very interesting metal, but it's structure WILL eventually fail from the constant stretching from pressure. Threads on tanks and cylinders also wear away every time they're threaded into a pump or gun. Cylinders are ticking time bombs if you really think about them. When they let go, i...
