Re: Technique, goals & reality.

Majority of pistol shooters use ortho grips that do not fit correctly. They are unforgiving and will cause many errant shots. Consistent grip pressure is more crucial when the grips do not fit correctly. Typically changes in grip pressure will move the front sight from side to side or horizontal. So...

[/quote] The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars. It's in our selves. There's a difference between "every conceivable way" and every possible way. I'm older than dirt - almost as old as Rover - and have nerve damage thanks to a years-ago elbow injury. It took no unreasonable length of ...

Re: Ruger Mark IV Target for Bullseye Pistol?

Rugers are great beginner BE guns and great for HM too. My PB with a mkii govt is 889 many years ago. I recently shot a couple Rugers and enjoyed them immensely. Had a nice 100-9 with a mkiii I did a trigger job on. Just picked up an mkii govt and shot a 95 & 96 SF on my first two targets after ...

Re: Wondering if I wanted to trade..

I’ve shot nearly every match 22 pistol on the planet at some point competitively. Ok not that many, but close. The Pardini SP is the only pistol I’ve ever tried to love and was never happier when I sold it. That darn trigger is just dead with no feel. If your young and strong and are pure fundamenta...

Re: Better groups on blank target

You initially stated you shoot better groups on blank target vs. target bull. When you’re aiming at a blank target you do not notice your movement as much as you do with the target bull. Trigger control is normally the culprit. You are probably not maintaining a consistent pull and you are helping t...

Re: Is TOZ-35 free floated, does it matter ?

IMO, it really makes little to no difference but it will certainly not hurt anything. I was blessed to get Steve Reiters (1980 Olympian) Toz 35 when I was a young team member on USAR pistol team with BEA. That pistol was the most beat up Toz I've ever seen. Reiter treated it like a tool. That pisto...

Re: Toz FP ammo

My Toz machine rested 0.400" with RWS R-50 back in the day. It always shot Tenex well. I occasionally break it out and run CCI SV through it with excellent results.

Re: Hämmerli slide issue

Typically its because the slide catch nut has loosened. Remove your grips. An allen wrench goes through the right side of the receiver. Hold the nut in place on the left side with a socket/nut driver/wrench and tighten it. Do not over tighten; make sure the catch rotates freely up and down.

Re: MG2 evo

Easiest Euro gun trigger adjustment of any pistol I've ever worked on. Very user friendly.
Feeding mechanism was changed on last version (3 changes) and is similar on the EVO. EVO extractor tension is reduced.

Re: MG2 evo

I help the importer with QC on the pistols. I set trigger weight to 2# or 1kg depending on BE or ISSF ahooter. I perform safety and function check on the pistols. I have a new EVO that I've shot CCI SV with 100% reliabilty so far. The QC of the pistols is very good on these new pistols. I was involv...

Re: New unofficial world record in AP

It has always bothered me that the shooter who qualified 8th in the match and was 20 points behind the 1st place shooter can win because the final format puts them all equal. Should be called the 2nd Chance Final!

Re: Hammerli 208 question

You should be able to get down to 2# with no issues. When adjusted properly the 208 trigger has no equal when comparing single stage triggers. Always feels the same!
I broke 890 many times with my 208. I use a 208s now and really don't shoot any better.

Re: SIG_Haemmerli Assembly

Dave I go by experience......what I want it to feel like. So I don't do any particular 1/4 turn etc until I get close to what I want. I know that doesn't help. For sear engagement I use Sharpie and blacken sear so I can see the engagement. The more engagement the more roll.

Re: SIG_Haemmerli Assembly

Dave,
'D' is only critical adjustment. It is sear engagement with hammer. The rest you set to what feels good to you. Obviously 'C' affects reset and only so much you can do there.
Jon

So I would set approx. sear engaement first then adjust other spring weights accordingly.

Re: Colt #05870A1 National Match Gold Cup

I'm not aware that the NM pistols came with a lighter recoil spring. They have lightened slides which can handle a heavier spring. Majority of the NM pistols do not lock up very tight so they come out of battery fairly easy. For 25 yds you can probably use 3.5gr of BE with either 185/200 gr lswc and...
