Re: Walther KK500 trigger issue - firing on release

Thanks imac. I've changed the trigger pressure to alot higher than I had before (which was as it arrived from the factory). So far it's been ok. I've resisted sending it back to the dealer I bought it from so far, given I'm in Southern England and Intershoot are in Northern Ireland and I shoot weekl...

Re: Walther KK500 trigger issue - firing on release

Haven't been able to narrow it right down (difficult in middle of a week long championship) but trigger is now behaving itself. Another 200 rounds fired . Either the trigger was way too light or one of the other screws needed tightening.

Re: Walther KK500 trigger issue - firing on release

Tightened the weight of the trigger and a few other grub screws (manual in German and google translate only goes so far).
No occurences on the last 2 100 yard cards (approx 60 shots).

It may be the trigger was too light.

Fingers crossed for rest of week

Thanks Tim. Am having a close look at trigger now. Unfortunately the Walther guys left yesterday.

Walther KK500 trigger issue - firing on release

My KK500, bought last year, has developed a trigger issue. Occasionally (since last night about 1 every 10 shots) I pull the trigger, nothing happens until I release it, then it fires! Any thoughts? Difficult to time your shot against pulse and end up holding way too long. Unfortunately it started j...

Re: Getting back in after a really long break / Walther KK50

35 - Definitely not too old. I left it close to 35 years after shooting at University (UK) before picking up a rifle again 4.5 years ago. I'm now 50. Some of the top county level shooters in the UK are 65+. KK-500 - I've had one since last May. Mechanical trigger. Love it and my averages, especially...

Re: KK500 report.

Nice shooting :) I'm also using CentreX. Whatever came off the shelf (not batch tested). Switched from Eley Match when I got the occasional gas blast back in my face on firing. Below is from my last 50m competition card (there are 5 shots in there). My scores have gone up, especially at 50m. Not sho...

Re: choice of rifle for 25yard left-handed

I was in the same position earlier in the year although I had a 1981 vintage Anschutz 1813 with an average around 97. Went with the KK500 and have not regretted it. Average for 25 yards slowly increasing. Still have the occasional 95 (although I blame the flu for the last one). Most improvement thou...

Re: Walther KK500 @ NRA prone distances (50Y,50M,100Yards)

I shot this one a couple of months ago with Eley Match (not batch tested, just what my club buys in bulk). The two outside the group I'd like to say were wind but I don't remember much wind that day. Probably less than 500 rounds through it by that point. The rifle is well capable at 100 yards.

Re: My KK500 has arrived (in California)

Just thought I'd give an quick update. I Love this Rifle :) Slightly longer update.....managed to put about 150-200 rounds down so far. Tomorrow will be the first weekend I've been able to shoot and have some 50m and 100yrds to do. So experience so far all at 25yrds indoor. Going on the last 8 cards...

Re: Loading from the shoulder - Anschutz 54.3 versus Wal KK5

Rarely have to move my sights once I leave the sighter (indoors). As you say, it doesn't completely remove the need to lift your elbow but does reduce it considerably.

Re: Loading from the shoulder - Anschutz 54.3 versus Wal KK5

I can't comment on the 54.3 (can only afford the one new rifle) but I am now able to load very easily with the KK500 without moving my elbow. Only a very slight tilting of the rifle (and could probably do it without tilting). This is in prone. This is the main reason I changed from my 1813 Supermatc...

Re: Walther KK500

Took my new KK500 to the range last night for it's first live firing. Didn't have a huge amount of time in between minutely adjusting everything to my taste but did get approx 40 rounds off. Can categorically say the trigger on mine is perfect :) Only moved the trigger shoe back a little, no other t...

Re: My KK500 has arrived (in California)

Looks promising. Nice group. :) May try Center-X myself. Used to use it in my 1813 until I had a batch that physically wouldn't go in the breach. Not sure I'll be taking out my new toy if it was that dusty that it was obscuring the 50m target! Annual indoor range tidyup this Sat and long range fullb...

Re: My KK500 has arrived (in California)

How will you be breaking in the barrel? My new KK500 should be with me end of next week (excited would be an understatement!). I've never had a new .22 rifle before so breaking in will be new to me. It's replacing my original 1981 Anschutz 1813 supermatch that I bought when I got into this sport 3 y...

Re: Pre 70's Anschutz barrel steel

Thanks Tim, Looks like I have a 1813 stock with 1600 barreled action then. Bedding bolts are not slot headed, in fact same as the 1813. You are correct in that the bolt does have a slot as compared to my 1813 which does not. My averages have dropped off over the last year, from high 97's (25yrd) to ...

Re: Pre 70's Anschutz barrel steel

Came across this thread only today and just had to check my 2 Anschutz rifles I have. The one I shoot regularly (at least twice a week) is a 1981 vintage 'Super Match mod 1813' as clearly displayed on the barrel and butt hook that can only be swiveled sideways. My second rifle is a 'Match 54', 1979 ...

Hi Rob, I'm a 'youthful' 47 having taken up prone shooting just under 2 years ago. Almost all the other members in the club are older than me (a fair amount older). Age certainly isn't an issue especially if you have a sense of humour and you've got a good 30+ years prone shooting left in you. Take ...
